Photowalking Workshop in Lower Manhattan with Joe DiMaggio

Course Description:

What is ‘photowalking’? It’s when you grab your camera and take a walk. But when you go photowalking with a seasoned pro, you’re bound to return with vastly improved photographic skills and better photographs. Join veteran photojournalist, sports shooter and advertising pro Joe DiMaggio for an all-day photowalking Workshop in historic Lower Manhattan. Learn invaluable advice as Joe shares insightful advice and specific tips to help you create meaningful photographs of what you see, rather than just merely recording a place or scene.

We will assemble early in the morning at Battery Park, where the group will take the ferry to the ‘Lady in the Harbor’ – The Statue of Liberty. Along the way there will be lots of opportunities to shoot the Manhattan skyline and Lady Liberty from the vantage point of the ferry while traveling to the Statue of Liberty. Once at Liberty Island, we’ll shoot some spectacular close-ups of this majestic monument, approaching it from different angles while using your various lenses and filters. On the way back, we’ll stop at Ellis Island, which has recently undergone additional renovations and offers great vistas to shoot.

Upon returning to Battery Park, we’ll head to Wall Street and Trinity Church, then the World Trade Center site. After a break for lunch, next stop is the South Street Seaport, a 17th century landmark on the East River. While on Pier 17’s third-level deck you’ll be able to see and photograph south to the Statue of Liberty, north to the Gothic majesty of the Brooklyn Bridge, and Brooklyn Heights on the opposite shore. The we’ll then walk the Brooklyn Bridge for a different perspective of the city as we wind down on a wonderful photographic journey.

*Itinerary may be subject to last-minute changes due to weather or other circumstances.
